Multiple iPhones stolen during Apple Store raid in Bristol, UK

According to local accounts, thieves stole several display iPhones during a raid at an Apple Store in Bristol, UK.

"A gang of burglars who walked into Bristol's Apple Store and took out 'several' iPhones from the display before fleeing are being pursued by police," according to local outlet Bristol Live. While the article does not specify how many iPhones were stolen, it does state that one of the robbers "threatened to hurt" a security guard before "walking away with thousands of pounds worth of phones."

The heist took place at Bristol's Quakers Friars Apple Store. The incident occurred "around 9.10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, just after the store opened," according to the complaint, yet Apple's website indicates the store doesn't open until 10:00 a.m. In any case, police have provided CCTV footage of the suspect.

Because of their open entrances and easy access to merchandise, such as display iPhone 13 models or covers, chargers, and other accessories that are easily accessible on store shelves, Apple Stores have long been obvious targets for thieves. Security guards are frequently stationed at Apple Stores, especially during peak hours, however they are limited in their abilities to deal with circumstances like this. Fortunately, no one appears to have been injured in this most recent theft.

Apple Stores can be quite busy, particularly during high trading seasons when a new iPhone is announced, as will be the case in September when the iPhone 14 series is slated to be unveiled.
