The Elder Scrolls 6: Everything We Know About it

Although The Elder Scrolls 6 is still a few months away from release, fans are excited for the Skyrim sequel. It was first revealed at E3 in 2018. However, except from a few clues and teases, Bethesda hasn't revealed anything about it since then. Take a look at what we know so far about the upcoming action RPG.

The next big instalment in The Elder Scrolls series will undoubtedly be action-packed, thrilling, and visually spectacular. However, Bethesda simply released a brief teaser that revealed little other than the game's title and the location from above.

Bethesda is currently concentrating on the interstellar adventure Starfield, which was just postponed until 2023. According to reports, the sequel to Skyrim is still in the planning stages. However, there are numerous rumours circulating about it.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Release Date and Development

Bethesda unveiled The Elder Scrolls 6 with a small teaser at E3 2018 four years ago. However, we still don't know when the game will be released, and according to recent sources, it's still in the early phases of production.

TES6 will come after Starfield, which is currently the studio's top focus. The bad news is that we don't know when Starfield will be released. It'll be released in 2023, according to reports. This would logically push the release date of The Elder Scrolls 6 to 2024 or later.

It's widely assumed that it'll be available to play between 2024 and 2026, but another rumour claims that development will take six years. One thing is certain: this decade will be full of surprises.

Todd Howard’s Comments about The Elder Scroll 6’s Development

The Elder Scrolls 6 was unveiled at E3 2018 by Todd Howard, director and executive producer of Bethesda Games. He's been providing updates on its progress since then. "I think everyone should be very patient," he said IGN the following year at E3 2019.

Pete Hines, Bethesda's senior vice president of worldwide marketing and communications, commented on TES6 the following year. "I'm failing to appropriately manage your expectations if you're coming to me for specifics today rather than years from now," he added.

Todd Howard announced at E3 2021 that the next action RPG has progressed to the early stages of production. "It's helpful to conceive of The Elder Scrolls 6 as still in development."

The senior executives' comments plainly indicate that not much regarding the impending title has been settled yet. It's still in its early phases, and it'll take at least another two years to complete.

Will The Elder Scrolls 6 be exclusive to Xbox consoles?

Starfield has been revealed to be an Xbox exclusive thus far, after Microsoft purchased Bethesda for $7.5 million in 2020 and Xbox head Phil Spencer shared details about their plans for exclusive titles.

The Elder Scrolls 6 could very well follow suit and be offered solely on the Xbox One X and Xbox One S. According to GamesBeat contributor Jeff Grubb, The Elder Scrolls 6 will also be an Xbox exclusive.

If that's the case, the game will most likely be released on Xbox Game Pass on Day One, similar to prior releases. One piece of good news is that Phil Spencer stated in an interview that "the Xbox exclusivity does not mean that players on the PS5 are punished."

As a result, there's still a chance that The Elder Scrolls 6 (and Starfield) will be released on the PlayStation 5 and PC at some point in the future. However, that will be a very lengthy wait.

The Elder Scrolls VI Could be Set in Hammerfell

As a result, there's still a chance that The Elder Scrolls 6 (and Starfield) will be released on the PlayStation 5 and PC at some point in the future. However, that will be a very lengthy wait.

The seagulls flying in the sky, together with the towering mountains and valleys, revealed the landmass to be near the shore in the trailer. Many fans assumed the place was either Hammerfell or High Rock based on the geographical cues.

On New Year's Eve 2021, around 4 p.m., the official Elder Scrolls Twitter account issued a possible teaser, which depicts a map with three carefully positioned candles and two coins beneath it.

According to fan speculations and expert opinions, this almost certainly confirms that Hammerfell will be the setting for The Elder Scrolls 6. It's the Redguards' base of operations, and it's been on everyone's mind since the trailer was released.

What will The Elder Scrolls VI be called?

The Elder Scrolls games are always titled for the setting in which they take place. Skyrim was the name given to the fifth instalment since it was set in that location, while Oblivion was given to the fourth instalment for the same reason.

As a result, The Elder Scrolls VI: Hammerfell will most likely be the title of the next game.

There has been speculation that it would be The Elder Scrolls VI: Redfall due to a miscommunication that was cleared up once Bethesda unveiled Redfall as a different game.
